Chance is a beautiful Husky from the remote community of Nain, Labrador, Newfoundland who arrived at the Riverview Animal Hospital to meet Dr Caroline Runyon, Jacqueline Duguay and Louise Arsenault 10pm Monday
evening.

July 5th update: Chance continues his recovery.... now able to walk 2 km per walk. Almost back to full recovery. Ton & his family have been very careful with Chance's movements to aid in his speedy recovery!

When Tom Sheldon called Dr Caroline Runyon asking for her help with Chance she was just winding up her week at the Riverview Animal Hospital in NB.
Tom had various contacts in the animal world who were all pointing him to connect with the semi retired veterinarian surgeon who lives between Donaldston, PEI and Riverview, NB. Tom was hearing about her reputation of success with orthopedic surgeries as Chief of  UPEI's Atlantic Veterinary College for 26 years..... made Dr Runyon his must find surgeon for Chance's maximum potential for his required TPLO.
Chance traveled just under 1500 miles for surgery!

Dr Runyon made arrangements to return to Riverview the following Sunday and offered to work around Chance's unique schedule requirements. She said its possible and we'll make it happen! Mom & Dad kissed their boy as Chance boarded a flight from Nain to Happy Valley - Goose Bay, Labrador for 230 miles Saturday morning and then caught a 525 mile flight to Saint John's, Newfoundland. His parents had planned his next flight to be to Halifax but due to fog Chance spent 2 quiet nights with the cargo handlers. Monday afternoon after a couple delays Chance flew 560 miles to Halifax, Nova Scotia where he was met by  Paul and Keith to drive him his last 150 miles to Riverview Animal Hospital where Dr Caroline Runyon with her team were ready for Chance.

The order of business was Paul and Keith weighing Chance with Shelley's help.

Dr Runyon said Chance had a text book TPLO surgery so she was done with excellent results and a smooth close to start a great journey for Chance to obtain maximum results!

Dr Runyon was happy to be available to help Chance.

Everyone has been watching over Chance and his recovery is excellent... he had a few diet challenges but they were addressed with a trip to the grocery store for his favorites! He's on track for a full recovery.

Chance came back for his 2nd TPLO in June 2016... on his way to their new home in Ottawa. Congratulations Chance!
